- July of 96 : first advanced sequence of the album considered in late July for a commercial release, with the tracks being mixed together.
- Maybe 2Pac was thinking to a kind of mixtape like he already had the idea with Stay True... That could be the reason for the harsh sound of the whole thing. But this is a dissing mixtape !
- What happened ? 2Pac kept on recording key tracks like "Me & My Girlfriend" and "Life of an Outlaw" and was also led to record the diss version of "Toss It Up" in order to clearly diss Dr. Dre.

### - This Demo Tape is an authentic mixtape made by Death Row engineers between the 25th and the 28th of July. It corresponds to an intermediate state of the album, satisfying enough to be presented for a further commercial release. Three DAT contents are quite similar to this tape but without "White Man'z World", two other DAT strictly correspond to that "Demo" tracklist : DAT PO308710 : "2 Pac safety 7/25/96 Makaveli Killuminati Tha 3 Day Theory" and DAT PO775339 : "Makaveli 7/28/96 not final master". The first one is probably unmixed. - ###

This is the Demo version of the album "Makaveli, The Don Killuminati, The 7 Day Theory". First called "Makaveli, Killuminati", then "Makaveli, The 3 Day Theory". If you look at the tracklists, "Me & My Girlfriend" finished by replace "Niggaz Nature". A new version of "Toss It Up" dissing Dr. Dre replaced "Watch Ya Mouth" (with his Nas diss) and "Life of an Outlaw replaced "Lost Soulz"

UNLEAKED
This DAT was opened the 6th of July, probably in order to copy a final version of "Never Call U Bitch Again", very likely the One Nation solo version. I suspect 2Pac only re-recorded the version with Cocoa Brovaz during One Nation sessions, instead of recording a version with the Outlawz planned for their album. This solo version was mixed/recorded the 6th or a bit earlier (the date of July 3 is usually given because there is a DAT with "ruff mixes" from that day, but it is the same content than a DAT with the "show mixes" made after the House of Blues concert the next day... so it could be just a compilation of earlier mixes and not the new version...). Maybe the House of Blues concert decides him to record a new solo version.
This DAT has songs from July 8 to 10 (the first three days of recording), but not "Live & Die in L.A." and "Niggaz Nature" from the same day.
July 10. Tracklist #1 : "Killuminati".
This
tracklist corresponds to the real three first days of recording, ten songs. No
songs recorded a few days before like "War Gamez"/"U Don't Have 2
Worry"/"Never Call U Bitch Again", nor recorded after. Only three songs from these first
sessions will end up in the retail album.
c. July 12-17. Tracklists #2 & #3 : "Killuminati, The 3 Day Theory".
2Pac
added "Bomb First", recorded the 12th, at the first position before
"Hail Mary" and it will stay like that. The "recorded in 3 days" did not
hold anymore... But 2Pac is now inspired also by christian symbolism,
especially after "Blasphemy"/"Hail Mary" recording with Prince Ital Joe -
and maybe inspired as well by his trip to Italy. The "3 day theory"
refers of course to the resurrection of Jesus Christ after having been
crucified by his Jew people. In his diss/war topics, dealing with the
paranoiac fear of being killed, killed by old friends, betrayed, 2Pac
met up the Jesus' Gospel story. Even if he would be killed, his
music would still be heard. Let's notice that "Friends" found its
position as the beginning of the B-Side, rarely changed.
c. July 12-17. Tracklist #4 : Makaveli 'the Don'. "The 3 Day Theory".
Same title but 2Pac added a noble title to his nickname.
c. July 18-21. Tracklist #5 : "Makaveli" N 3 Dayz.
2Pac
replaced "Killuminati"/"Let Em Have It"/"Outro (Last Praya)" by "Hold
Ya Head"/"Against All Oddz"/"Krazy" and a new version of "When Thugz
Cry". "Against All Oddz" already has its position at the end of the
album, rarely changed.
c. July 22 (with 25th correction). Tracklist #6 : "Killuminati".
Same tracklist than #5 with different order. With a different pen (so maybe later), 2Pac purposed to replace "Lost Souls" by "White Manz World" that he had probably just recorded.
DAT PO242613 : "Makaveli Killuminati 7/21/96 #1".
DAT PO389563 : "Makaveli Killuminati "The 3 Day Theory" 7/25/96 #2".
DAT PO781762 : "Makaveli Safety 7/26/96".
- Bomb First
- Hail Mary
- Krazy
- When Thugs Cry
- Watch Ya Mouth
- 2 Live & Die In LA
- Friends
- Blasphemy
- Hold Ya Head
- Lost Soulz
- Niggaz Nature
- Against All Odds (the realest shit I ever…spoken)
These DATs exactly correspond to the previous tracklist, but it is also very close to the known mixed demo of the album. So 2Pac was probably satisfied of this sequence.
DAT PO308710 : "2 Pac safety 7/25/96 Makaveli Killuminati Tha 3 Day Theory".
DAT PO775339 : "Makaveli 7/28/96 not final master". - THE MIXED DEMO
- Bomb First
- Hail Mary
- Krazy
- Watch Ya Mouth
- 2 Live & Die In LA
- Friends
- Blasphemy
- Hold Ya Head
- Lost Soulz
- White Manz World
- Nigga Nature
- Against All Odds
- Hidden Track - interlude + When Thugz Cry
In these two DATs (maybe one of them is mixed, the other not... so probably the second one, the first being a safety copy...), 2Pac simply incorporated "White Man'z World" between "Lost Souls" and "Niggaz Nature" and moved "When Thugz Cry" to the hidden track position. It could around that time the rupture between Death Row and Johnny J upon royalties became definitive... So the Immortalz Outlawz went shelved, the Johnny J "Secretz of War" track in One Nation was dropped and "When Thugz Cry", even if the instrumental seems replayed by Death Row inmates, it could be a problem.
The two next tracklists have the same tracks but a different order and of course no "When Thugz Cry" noted. Maybe they could have maintained the song like they did with "Toss It Up" which had the same problem with Dr. Dre's "No Diggity". But maybe 2Pac didn't want to enter into a direct confrontation and kept a hope to release his material. Maybe his death led Suge and Johnny J to kind of conciliate in order to release 2Pac's unreleased material...
7. 8. Circa the 29th of July. "Killuminati" (The 7 Day Theory).
2Pac just recorded "Me & My Girlfriend" and also added "White Man'z World" instead of "Niggaz Nature"/"When Thugz Cry". It seems like 2Pac decided to drop this late Johnny J original produced song, either because he was not satisfied with it, either Johnny J and Death Row are in a definitive disagreement and his material will not be released... If so, this is around that time he scrapped the original Outlawz album (which was then titled "Immortalz" or "The Hunger"...), dropped Johnny J songs from One Nation, and started to transform the original Young Noble & New Nastee Niggaz project into a new Outlawz album soon titled "Ghetto Starz".
DAT PO242613 : "2 Pac 8/6/96 #2".
- Bomb First
- Hail Mary
- Live & Die in LA
- Phuck Friends
- Against All Odds
- Krazy
- Life of an Outlaw
- Me & My Girlfriend
- Blasphemy
- Hold Ya Head
- White mans world
- Toss It Up - w 2Pac second verse
This DAT seems to be close to the previous tracklists with "Against All Odds" being in the first side of the album.
The fact that "Watch Ya Mouth" has been dropped and "Toss It Up" added in last position, could let think 2Pac had just recorded the second verse and the song is not a Aaron Hall's song anymore.
2Pac also chose to replace "Lost Souls" feat. Outlawz by "Life of an Outlaw" (from the 29-30th of July) probably initially aimed for Outlawz LP. Maybe the vibe of "Lost Souls" was more appropriate to Ghetto Starz LP, whereas "Life of an Outlawz" is darker.
9. Circa the 6th of August. "Killuminati".
2Pac also added "Life az an Outlaw", maybe initially aimed for the new Outlawz/Young Noble project, in replacement of "Lost Souls" and "Watch Ya Mouth".
10. Circa the 4th of August. Untitled.
It
is the final tracklist of the released album, except for "Friendz"
which will be replaced by "Just Like Daddy". The tracklist has probably
been written down more or less at the time 2Pac recorded the "News
Intro" which will be in the final album (Otherwise, he would have
written simply "Intro").
The words "Closer to this order" are clearly a later addition. 2Pac chose this tracklist among all the tracklists he wrote.
DAT PO242613 : "2 Pac Mackaveli Kiluminati 8/12/96 New Order #3".
- Bomb First
- Hail Mary
- Toss It Up
- To Live & Die in LA
- Blast 4 Me
- Life As An Outlaw
- Phuck Friends (DNU)
- Krazy
- White Mans World
- Me & My Girlfriend
- Hold Ya Head
- Against All Odds
This DAT exactly corresponds to the previous tracklist, and so to the retail Killuminati album, with the only difference being the strange inclusion of "Just Like Daddy" with Outlawz (very probably aimed for Outlawz LP) instead of "F... Friends"... A song like "Street Fame" could have fitted more...
Let's notice the alternate title for "Blasphemy" which reveals the wordplay behind it.
11. Circa the 12th of August.
In the 12th DAT sequence, "Phuck Friendz" was noted "DNU" (Do Not Use ?). It is said that 2Pac has been asked to not release the song. So he replaced this song and "Hold Ya Head" by two songs he just recorded : "Black Jesuz"/"Just Like Daddy". Therefore he has to change the whole track order. But he changed his mind : either he wanted to keep "Hold Ya Head", either he wanted to reserve "Black Jesuz" for the new Outlawz project...
So he went back and chose a previous tracklist where he simply changed "Friendz" by "Just Like Daddy" at the beginning of the B-Side (so he did not have to change the whole track order).
DAT PO781761 : "Makaveli EQ'd 8/16/96"
DAT PO781738 : "Makaveli LP ref 10/18/96"
- Bomb First
- Hail Mary
- Toss It Up
- To Live & Die
- Blast 4 Me
- Life Of An Outlaw
- Just Like Daddy
- Krazy
- White Manz World
- Me And My Girlfriend
- Hold Ya Head
- Against All Odds
In this DAT, 2Pac simply made the planned replacement of "Friendz" by "Just Like Daddy", but respected the track order of the handwritten tracklist he marked before.
Right before being released (the 5th of November), a new DAT is copied, exactly similar to the previous one (with the same word play with "Blasphemy"). So we can consider that Suge Knight totally respected 2Pac's wishes for the album. They will just return to the original title of "Blasphemy", more accurate to the mystic vibe of the album.

13. The 3 Day Theory (Interlude) / 2Pac & Darryl Harper (?)
- 1996/07/23. Funny to notice that exactly two years after the Stay True mixtape project, Tony Pizarro made again a couple of interludes (with "Don't Hate Us", cf. Immortalz, Killuminati Original).
14. When Thugz Cry (No Sample Demo) feat. Nanci Fletcher / Johnny J REPLAYED By Kevyn Lewis & Ricky Rouse (?), Demetrius Shipp & Reggie Moore (?)
- 1996/02/01 - 07/12 (new vocals, remade beat) - 07/21 (final mix). Remixed in Until The End of Time (2001). The original version of the song was recorded for scrapped 2nd solo album on Death Row (cf. Me Against The World pt. 2). This new version incorporates a resentful speech to Nas at the end and has the "Fragile" sample being replayed (either because of an original sample clearance issue or because of Johnny J being in a disagreement with Suge Knight).
- Samples :
- Prince - "When Doves Cry" (concept)
- Sting - "Fragile" (melody interpolation)

What about ?
DeleteHey, is there a copy of this in real wav or a Dat Reel available for download?
ReplyDeleteFor sure. But, there are no regular link. Ask Bomb1st.com forum.
DeleteI have already registered on the site but they never send me a confirmation email.
DeleteThere are many fake files of these demos. There is a program called "spek" that does these checks.
ReplyDeleteWhich one do you mean ? The 3 day Demo or the 7 Day ? in Youtube or in Myzuka ?
DeleteI don't think you can say these are fake files in them. Maybe bad quality. If you want the best files, you can go to Bomb1st and ask.
